Hearing Aid Service: Hearing Screening
A "hearing screening" is an important first step in addressing potential hearing loss issues. It allows the hearing professional, within a very short period of time, to assess whether or not a client has hearing loss and whether the hearing loss is due to excessive cerumen (ear wax) buildup or a variety of other outer-ear or middle-ear pathologies.
Should a hearing screening reveal issues that would warrant a referral to a physician, steps can be taken to address the issues, after which a full hearing test may be scheduled at a later date.
A hearing screening may also reveal a degree of hearing loss. In this case, a full hearing test will be scheduled to collect more detailed information on the degree, type, effect, and possible source of the hearing loss. A hearing aid evaluation appointment (or discussion about hearing aids or other rehabilitative options) may follow.
If a hearing screening reveals no hearing loss, you may proceed with confidence knowing that your hearing is within normal thresholds.
A hearing screening typically includes otoscopy, immittance testing, and pure-tone air conduction thresholds, at a minimum. UBHearing™ may suggest a hearing screening appointment be booked prior to booking our full "Advanced Hearing Test", especially for those who are not certain that they have hearing loss or that their ears are not blocked with wax. Our Advanced Hearing Test is the industry's most thorough hearing test. As a result, your solution will be better optimized specifically for you. However, in every case, the most time-effective and cost-conscious solution is to begin with a hearing screening.
If you're unsure if you have hearing loss or not, consider booking a hearing screening.
