Each year, UBHearing assesses new hearing aids and features, evaluating them for both value and effectiveness. We choose only the best for our clients, and discard those that don't make the grade. 2023 is shaping up to be an exciting year with the introduction of some meaningful, new and improved hearing aid features that are sure to be high in demand. UBHearing is pleased to introduce the most exciting line-up of new hearing aid features we've ever tested.
At UBHearing, all of our hearing aids come with a standard 3-year manufacturer warranty for repairs. If a hearing aid is lost within the first two years, the manufacturer will replace it at no charge (one time each). After purchase, clients enjoy a 90-day trial period during which to evaluate the hearing aid and, if desired, to return it. New "One-Click” Noise Cancelling Technology The majority of people are wearing hearing aids because of hearing loss related to natural ageing or to due to noise exposure. In each case, these folks have some areas of good hearing as well as areas where they struggle to hear. Usually, these clients are recommended hearing aids that are “open-fit”. An open-fit hearing aid is one that lets lots of air and sound into and out of the ear by means of large vent holes built into the hearing aid or into the dome that fits into the ear. An open-fit hearing aid has the advantage of making your own voice easier to tolerate by reducing the feeling of ears being plugged by hearing aids, while still providing an increase in high-frequency clarity. However, the number one complaint of those with open fit hearing aids is that they do not lower environmental noise in a meaningful way, as the hearing aid is not taking full control of the sound that enters the ear. Also, quality of audio streaming from smartphones and other devices is somewhat underwhelming and generally more “tinny” with open-fit hearing aids. An open-fit setup can certainly offer benefit. However, for those who also want to enjoy open-fit comfort as well as having the closed-fit benefits of more noticeable noise reduction, speech-in-noise focus, and crystal clear audio streaming quality, our new hearing aids with “one-click” noise cancelling technology offer the option for users to easily switch between an open or closed fit, depending on the environment you find yourself in. New Waterproof/Sweat-Proof Hearing Aids At UBHearing, we have always offered water-resistant hearing aids with the highest rating for dust and water infiltration protection (based on IP ratings awarded by the ANSI organization). Despite this, hearing aids still occasionally fail due to excessive moisture infiltration. Now, new waterproof hearing aids exceed the highest standards ANSI can measure. In manufacturer testing, hearing aids continued working after more than 500 swims in both saltwater and freshwater. Many hearing aid wearers are active and work outside in dusty, wet or humid environments. Some choose to remove their hearing aids when working outdoors. In the past, moisture issues have been somewhat addressed by introducing interventions like drying or protective accessories. Now, active clients have an easier-to-maintain, extremely effective option for those whose hearing aids will be worn in tougher environments and conditions. If your lifestyle includes active outdoor or fitness activities, these may be the best hearing aids for you. Many people don't take this into account when they consider their first purchase of hearing aids and are startled to realize their own voice sounds different to them. Often times clients request that the volume of the hearing aids be lowered to make the sound of their own voice more comfortable. However, when the volume of hearing aids are turned down for comfort, they become less effective overall. “Own Voice Lowering” technology allows the hearing aids to lower the sound of only the users voice, without lowering the volume of other sounds. Studies show that long-term wearing of hearing aids allows the brain to adapt to the change in how things sound, including the change in sound of one’s own voice. However, for some users, overcoming the sound of their own voice proves extremely difficult. The availability of “Own Voice Lowering”, found in some of our hearing aids, has been proven to expedite and ease hearing aid acceptance, improving overall effectiveness. Audio Streaming Support for ALL Smartphones Hearing aids have had the ability to connect to the iPhone platform for many years. In recent years, integration with late model, more expensive Android phones (ASHA compliant) has become possible, with somewhat less stable connectivity than iPhone users enjoy. UBHearing is very happy to now be able to offer hearing aids that will connect to an even wider variety of Android phones, with more reliable connectivity than hearing aids offered in the past. You may not need to upgrade your cell phone or to purchase additional, intermediate accessories in order to experience the joy and benefit of streaming audio directly from your phone to your hearing aids. Rechargeable Custom In-the-Ear Hearing Aids Rechargeable Behind-the-Ear hearing aids have been available for quite a few years now, and have proven to be very popular. However, for those who need or prefer custom In-the-Ear hearing aids, rechargeable options have not been available - until now! Many seniors with hearing loss also struggle with dexterity or vision issues, which makes using Behind-the-Ear hearing aids and changing batteries very difficult and, in some cases, impossible without a caring helper. Custom In-the-Ear hearing aids hearing aids are easier to insert, easier to wear with masks than Behind-the-Ear styles, and now come in a rechargeable format.
